6-27-1- Summary

The exporter obligations are fulfilled after customs clearance, when the goods are placed, along the ship or at the dock. From that moment, the importer assumes all costs and risks. The importer designates the ship, pays the freight and negotiates and signs the transport contract.

6-27-2- From the viewpoint of the importer

The importer chooses the goods carrier (main and post-transport) Il paie ainsi le transport. Thus, the importer pays for transport. As indicated on the table, the costs and risks transfer to the importer once the goods are in the possession of the carrier. The goods must be delivered at the designated location (i.e. FCA "seller's premises"). Each party is responsible for their respective countries’ customs formalities.

6-27-3- Advantages for the importer

6-27-5- Advantages for the exporter

The exporter supports operations on his country. This Incoterm © is used when a high level of familiarity exists among the involved stakeholders. Here, the exporter must have a strong familiarity with the stakeholders responsible for transport up until "alongside ship."
