6-10-1- Summary

The exporter pays all charges and assumes risks up until the frontier, which must be clearly specified. The exporter is responsible for export customs formalities, while the importer handles import customs formalities. The goods are available prior to reaching the customs border of the adjacent country, on the loaded approach vehicle. The frontier must be precisely defined and included alongside the Incoterms © term DAF(________).

If delivery must be made the destination port, onboard the ship, or at the dock, use of the DES or DEQ Incoterms © is preferable.

6-10-2- From the viewpoint of the importer

The importer is responsible for all logistics within its own country; choosing the carrier and paying for service. The same is true insurance. However, the importer is not responsible for import or export customs clearance procedures.
